Assistant Professor Dr. Dilip Kumar, in charge of the emergency OT, said that at 5:50 am, there may have been a short circuit in the post-operative room next to the emergency operation theater and one of the adjacent store rooms. This caused a fire in the AC outdoor and later in the oxygen outdoor. The fire may have spread due to the door exploding in the face of the oxygen outdoor. At that time, two nurses and a doctor in the OT jumped from the ladder. All three are undergoing treatment. However, there were no major casualties. There were patients in all 15 seats of the OT department. Hospital sources said that after receiving the information, 10 units of the fire service started working to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control after an hour of effort.

After the fire broke out in the store room, it spread and everything in the hospital was burnt. Everyone started running in panic and took shelter in the hospital grounds. Many took their patients to other hospitals.
They alleged that the hospital operates 24 hours a day. The incident of a fire breaking out there and burning everything is mysterious. A proper investigation is needed.
Khulna Medical College Hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Hossain Ali said that initially it is believed that the fire may have started from a short circuit or an AC explosion. However, the real cause can be confirmed after the investigation.
