Government will provide facilities to those who want to take up sports as a profession –Abu Wahab Akand

Md. Moniruzzaman : Abu Wahab Akand Wahid, MP for Mymensingh Sadar-4 constituency, said that the current democratic government has announced to give more importance to sports and include them in the textbooks from the third and fourth grades. In the future, the government will provide facilities to those who want to take up sports as a profession.

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the district-level Government Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament (Boys and Girls) 2026 at the Mymensingh Circuit House ground this morning (Saturday, May 16).

He further said that under the Prime Minister’s directives, he, along with State Minister Aminul Haque, discussed and submitted a proposal on the establishment of BKSP and Sports Village in Mymensingh. BKSP and Sports Village will be established in Mymensingh in phases. He also mentioned that the government will take necessary measures to bring back the sports tradition of the Mymensingh region.

In his speech, he told the concerned officials that to encourage child players, special attention should be paid to their food, clothing and transportation. He assured that everyone would work together for the development of children and the development of sports. Finally, the chief guest announced the official inauguration of the Government Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026 at the district level.

Mymensingh City Corporation Administrator Md. Rukunozzaman Rokon and Mymensingh Primary Education Division Deputy Director (Acting) Tahmina Khatun spoke as special guests at the event presided over by Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md. Saifur Rahman. Officials of the District Primary Education Office, teachers and students of various schools, guardians and sports enthusiasts were present at the event.
