Pirojpur Correspondent: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said that the current government is walking a 180-degree opposite path after coming to power, ignoring the verdict given by the people. He claimed that the government has denied the verdict of the referendum, which is unprecedented in any other country in the world. This political position has become the main reason for the current crisis in the country.
‎He said this as the chief guest at the Rukon conference organized by the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Pirojpur district branch at the Pirojpur Convention Center adjacent to the old bus stand of the city on Saturday (May 23, 2026) afternoon.
‎
‎Mia Golam Parwar mentioned that as per the election promise, they took the opinion of the people on four questions and where there was no ‘note of dissent’, the government promised to accept 84 reform proposals. But later the government withdrew from that decision and termed it ‘illegal’.
He said that ignoring the verdict of the people and leaning towards partyization and authoritarianism has created a political crisis in the country.
Even though the government does not respect the verdict of the people, Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to maintaining peace and stability in the country. He reiterated its support for all good deeds and its strong stance against injustice.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Assistant Secretary General Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal, Dhaka Metropolitan Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud and Central Majlis-e-Shura member Maulana AKM Fakhruddin Khan Razi also spoke at the event, chaired by Pirojpur District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Principal Tafazzal Hossain Farid.
