The Bangladesh Women Journalists Center (BWJC) has announced a human chain program demanding swift justice and maximum punishment for those responsible for ongoing cases of child rape and murder in the country.
The organization expressed deep concern over a sharp rise in violence against children. According to reported data, 118 children have been victims of rape in the last five months, while 17 of them were killed after rape, triggering widespread public outrage.
In response, BWJC has called for a human chain on Sunday demanding justice for all child rape and murder cases, including the 7-year-old victim Ramiisa, whose case on 19 May drew national attention.
Program details:
• Title: Justice for Ramiisa and all child rape and murder victims
• Slogan: No promises needed / WE WANT JUSTICE
• Date: Sunday, 24 May 2026
• Time: 11:00 AM
• Venue: In front of the National Press Club, Dhaka
Citing data from Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), the organization stated that from 1 January to 20 May this year, 118 children were raped and 46 faced attempted rape. Among them, 14 children were killed after rape and 3 were killed during failed attempts. Additionally, 115 children were reportedly murdered between January and April.
BWJC has invited journalists from print, electronic, and online media to attend and cover the program.
