Despite completing the legal land exchange (mutual exchange), the opponent has been accused of attempting to forcibly occupy the contracted land. There is extreme tension in the area over this and the victim family has approached the local administration and law enforcement agencies seeking legal protection. The incident took place in the Char Ishwardia area of ​​Sadar Upazila of Mymensingh.
The accused attacked Manjurul Haque by blocking his path on Wednesday (July 22) morning.
Victim Manjurul Haque said that on April 14, 1990, through a verbal agreement with local dignitaries and the consent of both parties, 20 percent of the land in Fajruddin was exchanged with the mother city of Banu of the opponents Abdur Rahman, Abdul Karim and Abdul Khalek. According to the agreement, both parties agreed to occupy their respective lands and had been occupying it for about 35 years. However, recently, the opponents Abdul Karim, Abdul Khalek and their people Ujjal, Motaleb, Naeem, Kachham Ali and Azhar have started trying to illegally reoccupy the land by violating the previous agreement. The complaint states that on July 6, 2026, the opponents armed with domestic weapons illegally entered the land and tried to build a boundary wall. At one stage, they cut down and destroyed more than 500 banana trees of the victim. They tried to forcibly pour sand on 34 percent of the land purchased by Manjurul Haque and threatened him. Later, with the help of Kotwali police and locals, they were able to recover his land. Victim Manjurul Haque said, “We respected the law and changed the land in accordance with the rules. After all this time, they are trying to snatch our occupied land by force and are threatening our family in various ways. We are now suffering from extreme insecurity.” Meanwhile, when we tried to contact the opponents Abdul Karim and Abdul Khalek several times to find out about the complaint, they could not be contacted. Local witnesses Bulbul Ahmed and Masudur Rahman said that the fact that the land was changed is well known. At present, the attempt to forcefully occupy it by one party is undesirable and may cause disruption of peace and order. In this incident, the victim has filed a case No. 01/2026 (other type) and Sadar Case No. 893/2026 in the learned 1st Joint District Judge Court and Additional District Magistrate Court of Mymensingh District. The land has SA Khatian 1319, BRS Khatian 1515, former Dag No. 53, BRS Dag 147. The total land in this dag is 17 percent of 1 acre, out of which there is a dispute over 20 percent of the land for exchange. In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Ashraful Karim said, “We have received a complaint. Legal action will be taken immediately after investigating the matter and steps are being taken to maintain the law and order situation in the area.”
