Rabiul Hossain Chowdhury Ripon: Kaptai (Rangamati) A preparatory meeting has been held in Kaptai, Rangamati, with the aim of celebrating the Bengali New Year-1433 and the main social festival of the small ethnic groups of the hills ‘Boisabi’ (Biju, Sangrai, Bishu) with due dignity in the atmosphere of tradition and festival in the hill township. Organized by the Kaptai Upazila Administration, this meeting expressed the determination to make the day memorable by combining local culture and hill tradition. Md. Ruhul Amin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), chaired the meeting and highlighted various aspects of the Baisakhi celebrations. He said, “All kinds of preparations are being made to make the festival of the life of Bengalis, Pohela Baishakh, and the traditional festival of the hill tribes joyful. Especially, all the lost local sports and all the aspects of hill culture will be beautifully presented, so that a quality and festive atmosphere is maintained.”
Rangamati District BNP Joint Secretary and former Kaptai Upazila Chairman Dildar Hossain, Upazila BNP President Lokman Ahmed, Kaptai Thana OC (Investigation) Md. Sohel, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Ruihlaong Marma and Upazila Livestock Officer Enamul Haque Hazari spoke as guests at the preparatory meeting. Officials from various departments of the administration, teacher representatives and local media workers were also present at the meeting. It was informed that colorful rallies, cultural programs and rural fairs will be organized on the occasion of Pohela Boishakh and Baisabi. All departments, including law enforcement agencies, will work together to ensure that the colorful arrangements of Biju, Shangrai and Vishu festivals of small ethnic groups are celebrated smoothly. The speakers expected that this combined festival of the hills and plains will turn into a huge gathering with the participation of people from all walks of life. Specific instructions have been given to each department to make the event a success.
