Professor Dr. Md. Israfil, Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, Dhaka University, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the newly formed Thakurgaon University. This information was given in a notification signed by Md. Sultan Ahmed, Assistant Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education, on May 6, 2026. In this, with the approval of the President and the Chancellor of the University, he was appointed to Thakurgaon University under Section 10(1) of 2023. According to the information, Professor Dr. Md. Israfil graduated from the National School of Drama, India in 1991. In 1999, he obtained a PhD degree in Street Theatre of Bangladesh from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Later, he taught in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, Dhaka University. As the Vice-Chancellor of the newly formed Thakurgaon University, Dr. The crowd erupted in joy as teachers, students, and other professionals sent messages of congratulations and best wishes to Md.
