The district administration has conducted a comprehensive cleanliness drive in Pirojpur to raise public awareness and motivate stakeholders to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.
The drive began at 11:30 am on Saturday (March 14) at the initiative of the Pirojpur district administration. The program was officially inaugurated by cleaning the dilapidated pond adjacent to the residence of the district and sessions judge and the Prabin Park.
The drive was inaugurated by Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner Abu Sayeed.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Director of Local Government and Administrator of Pirojpur Municipality Mahmudur Rahman Mamun, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Alauddin Bhuiyan Jani, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Mamunur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Mahmud Hasan, District BNP Member Secretary S. M Saidul Islam Kismat, District Jamaat Secretary Md. Zahirul Haque, District BNP former convening committee member Akhtaruzzaman Sheikh Rahat, former District Chhatra Dal President Khairul Islam Babu and leaders of various political parties.
In addition, voluntary organization BD Clean, and people from different classes and professions actively participated in this campaign.
Deputy Commissioner Abu Sayeed said, as per the government’s instructions, a coordinated campaign has been started in Pirojpur to prevent dengue like the rest of the country. This cleanliness program will be continued every Saturday.
He also said, “Everyone has to work together to keep Pirojpur city clean. Through the joint participation of all stakeholders, we want to build a beautiful and livable city. If everyone works together, it is definitely possible to build a beautiful Bangladesh.” In addition, District Jamaat Secretary Zahirul Haque and BNP District Member Secretary Saidul Islam Kismat expressed their views with journalists.
The participants in the campaign carried out awareness activities to remove garbage accumulated in different parts of the city, clean waterlogged areas and prevent the spread of mosquitoes. In response to the journalist’s question, the Deputy Commissioner further said that this campaign will continue every Saturday.
