The incident of hanging white flags with Kalema written on both sides of the road in the Shahparir Dwip border area of ​​Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar has created widespread discussion and curiosity among the locals. On Saturday (June 27) afternoon, these flags were seen in rows on various roads of Shahparir Dwip and in the jetty area of ​​the Naf River.

According to local sources, a group of young madrasa students hung white flags with Kalema written on various roads and jetty areas of Shahparir Dwip. Later, they published pictures and videos of these activities on their social media.

A local youth shared the video of hanging the flag on his Facebook ID and wrote, “I have never wasted money buying a football jersey so far. I can see such a beautiful Kalema flag behind me. This was organized by the ‘Al Hidaya Student Organization’ of Teknaf Shahparir Dwip. Seeing this scene, my heart was filled.

In the photos and videos published on two Facebook pages named ‘Al Hidaya Student Organization’ and ‘Beauty of Shahparir Dwip’, it can be seen that some young men are staying in different areas of Shahparir Dwip with white flags with Kalima written on them wrapped around their bodies and holding similar flags in their hands. They display and hoist these flags. However, the organization claims that someone removed several flags hung at different places on the road on Saturday morning.

The workers of ‘Al Hidaya Student Organization’ have expressed anger over the incident. As a protest, the organization has called for using flags with Kalima written on them in their profile pictures on social media.

Locals said that the sudden hoisting of a large number of white flags with Kalima written on them in the border area has raised curiosity among the public as well as various questions. As a result, the administration is continuing to monitor and investigate the matter.

Ansarul Haque, a teacher at Eshaatul Islam Forkania Madrasa in Shahparir Dwip, said, “These flags were hung at the initiative of Al Hidaya Student Organization. I also participated in it. I joined this work mainly out of love for the Kalima. We have no other motive other than that. Later, when I learned that administrative pressure was being created on the matter, I went and took down some flags.

Al Hidaya Student Organization Advisor Mohammad Asem Billah Taheri said that flags with the Kalima written on them have been hoisted in different places in the country. In continuation of that, we have hoisted these flags at the Teknaf border as well. This initiative has been taken out of love for Islam. There is no other motive other than that.

He complained that some flags have been removed. He also said that more flags will be hoisted in protest. However, he did not give any specific explanation as to why such an initiative was taken to hoist such flags.

Meanwhile, various questions and discussions are going on among the local residents about the matter. Local resident Mohammad Zaker Ahmed said that suddenly white flags with the Kalima written on them have been hoisted in different places. has been hung. Questions have been raised in the minds of people about the matter. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the purpose and reason behind it.

Sabrang Union Parishad Acting Chairman Abdul Mannan said, white flags with Kalima written on them have been hung in various places in my union. We are investigating who hoisted these flags and for what purpose.

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Saiful Islam said, we have come to know that some youths have hung these flags out of love for Islam. We are talking to them. We are closely monitoring the matter and necessary inquiries are being made.

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) SM Anik Chowdhury said, the incident is being investigated seriously. Necessary information will be collected and legal action will be taken.
