National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwary said that BNP is working to implement Sheikh Hasina’s constitution by taking a stand against the demand of 70 percent of the country’s people for a referendum.

He said these things at a rally organized by the District NCP at the Central Shaheed Minar after the ‘July Awakening March to Build the Nation’ in Kurigram town on Wednesday (July 22) afternoon.

Nasir Uddin Patwary said that BNP leaders and activists are ransoming the murderers of the people who gave their lives in the 2024 movement in exchange for money. To protect the murderers, they have placed people of their choice in the tribunal. They have taken over banks, educational institutions and even mosque committees.

He also said, we said that extortion and terrorist activities will not be allowed to continue in Bangladesh by standing on the blood of Abu Sayeed. But they have broken Abu Sayeed’s dream.

Criticizing the BNP, he said, “They are working to implement Sheikh Hasina’s constitution, Mujib’s constitution and Indian interests, going against the demands of 70 percent of the country’s people for a referendum. BNP has grown wings by winning 200 seats. We want to say that if necessary reforms are not made in Bangladesh, those wings will break and fall to the ground.”

Speakers at the rally complained that during this government’s tenure, the budget comes from Dhaka to Bogra. It does not come to Rangpur.

At the rally, Sarjis Alam, the main organizer of the northern region, said, “We want to develop this distressed district. During the Awami League’s tenure, the budget would not have crossed Bogra. During the BNP’s tenure, the budget comes from Dhaka to Bogra and does not come to Rangpur. Let alone Kurigram.”

Criticizing the ruling party, the party’s main organizer Sarjis Alam said, “Drugs are being spread in every district across the border. An attempt is being made to destroy our young generation through this project. Especially the people of the ruling party talk against drugs during the day.” At night, 5-10 of their leaders take money from the profit of drugs.

At the rally, NCP member secretary and MP Akter Hossain said that BNP also talked about national reforms before 24. But unfortunately, after coming to power, they no longer want reforms. They also want to take the same benefits as Hasina ran the country before.

NCP joint convener Dr. Atiq Mujahid also spoke at the rally.

District NCP joint convener and media cell head Rasheduzzaman Towhid moderated the program.

Among others, district NCP joint convener Mukul Mia, senior joint convener Mahmudul Hasan Jewel, member secretary Masum Mia and other district and upazila level leaders were present.

Earlier, the ‘July Awakening March for Nation-Building’ started from the Independence Victory Monument at the city’s College Crossing and after parading various roads, ended at the Central Shaheed Minar. The program was declared over with a rally there.
