IU Da’wah department reunion held

The first reunion event of the Islamic University (IU) Da’wah and Islamic Studies department alumni association was held on the campus in Kushtia on Saturday amid much enthusiasm and festivity. The two-day-long program included a Pitha Utshab, a colorful procession, batch-wise reminiscence, photo session and cultural functions.Marking the day, former and current teachers, students and staff of the department brought out a colorful procession from in front of the university’s Faculty building around 09:30 am. The procession ended in front of the Birshrestho Hamidur Rahman auditorium after parading the main streets of the campus. Later a discussion program was held there.

IU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr. Shaikh Abdus Salam addressed the event as chief guest. Prof Dr. Shaid Muhammad Rezwan, president of the alumni presided over the program while treasurer Prof Dr. M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya, University’s syndicate member Principal Shahjahan Alam Shaju, theology and Islamic studies faculty dean Prof Dr. Ershad Ullah, Da’wah department chairman Prof Dr. Wali Ullah and Dr. M Abdul Aziz, Dircector general of Bangladesh institute of islamic thought attended as the special guests. IU Proctor Prof Dr. Shahadat Hossain Azad, student advisor Prof Dr. Shelina Nasrin and IUTA president Prof Dr. Jahangir Hossain were present on the occasion, among others.Around one thousand students of Da’wah department of the University from 1985-86 session to 2021-22 session thronged the campus to celebrate the event.
