Ā A written complaint has been made to the chairman of the National Board of Revenue regarding various irregularities and corruption in the Akhaura customs warehouse in Brahmanbaria. On May 18, the president of Paikpara area of the district town, Manik Mia, the president of the business association, requested to investigate various irregularities in the customs warehouse. To eliminate customs warehousing irregularities and to verify the treasury challans and delivery memos of last one and a half year auctions in the interest of government revenue. application It is said in the complaint that sealed tenders have not been conducted in Akhaura customs warehouse for a long time. Due to not auctioning on time, products worth billions of rupees are getting expired in the warehouse. Sometimes open auctions are not done according to the rules. According to the rules, the highest bidder will accept the delivery memo by depositing the money in the government treasury through treasury challan. But in Akhaura, the price of the goods auctioned in the customs warehouse is accepted in cash. The delivery memo issued to the consignee does not specify which GR number of goods and which goods have been auctioned. Later the warehouse officials deposited the money as they wished. As a result no one knows how much money is deposited in the government treasury. In this, the government is deprived of huge amount of revenue, which can be proved by proper investigation.
Manik Mia said, from January 1, 2022 to May 15, 2023 Verification of treasury challans and delivery memos of auctioned sheets of Akhaura customs warehouse till now will reveal evidence of irregularities and corruption. He also said that Akhaura customs warehouse worker Md Ashraf Uddin used various tricks to get the goods at a low price to the person of his choice. The government is not getting fair value for it. Copy of the letter is given to Comilla of Customs Excise and VAT Commissioner, Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate, Comilla Sector Commander of BGB and Brahmanbaria District Commissioner.
