Samajtantrik Chhatra Front has demanded allocation of 25 percent of the national budget announced by the government to the education sector. The organization organized a human chain rally in front of the Rangpur Press Club on Thursday (June 1) at 12 noon. Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Rangpur Metropolitan Branch General Secretary Uttam Kumar Das spoke in the chair, Begum Rokeya University Branch President Rina Murmu, Vigyan Andolan Manch Rangpur Branch President Turya Shubhra, Basad Rangpur District Member Amal Kumar Sarkar, Student Front Metropolitan Branch Organizer Biplab spoke. Speakers in the gathering said that most of the money in the budget is provided by the common people but in the past years we have also noticed that the interests of the people are not reflected. The uncertainty of the education life of students has increased due to the pressure of increasing commodity prices. With around 5 crore students in the country, government initiatives are woefully inadequate for this large number of students. The budget allocated to the education sector is not enough to solve the education crisis, the main part of education is now the private sector. Chhatra Front leaders said that it is difficult to bear the cost of education. We are fighting against commercialization, privatization, communalization of education. There is a shortage of classrooms in the campuses, shortage of teachers, shortage of books in the library, shortage of halls, insufficient allocation for research. To solve these crises, 25 percent of the education sector should be allocated in this year’s national budget. At the end of the Manbandhan rally, a procession went round the various streets of the city. During the march, various slogans were raised demanding 25 percent allocation for the education sector.
