Mohammad Masud Majumdar: The National Science and Technology Week and Science Fair 2026 were inaugurated in Barura, Comilla. Today’s Wednesday 8 April at 12 noon, the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Asaduzzaman Rony presided over the event at the Barura Upazila Parishad auditorium. Barura Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Rashed Chowdhury, Barura Upazila BNP General Secretary Syed Zahirul Haque Swapan, Barura Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ratan Kumar Saha, and Barura Doctors Community Hospital Managing Director Journalist Md. Elias Ahmed were present as guests.
The event was hosted by Barura Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Ahsan Hafiz. Also present at the event were Md. Ibrahim Hossain Rubel, acting principal of Harishpura Kamal Hossain College, Md. Arif Hossain, ICT teacher, Mahmudul Hasan, assistant teacher of Kadba Talagram Tarini Charan Laha High School, Md. Zia Uddin Bhuiyan, assistant teacher of Barura Haji Noab Ali Pilot High School, and representatives of various educational institutions.
After the inauguration ceremony, Barura Upazila Executive Officer Asaduzzaman Roni and other guests visited various stalls of the science and technology fair with the participation of students.
At 11 am, a science quiz competition and science Olympiad competition were held with the participation of students in the Upazila Parishad meeting room.
Ahmed Shakib, Rifat Abdullah, and Farhan Mushfiq, students of Barura Haji Noab Ali Pilot High School, won first place in the science quiz competition.
Israt, Saima, Nazneen of Pilgiri Kharul Adarsh ​​High School won the second place.
Samia Akhter, Sanjana Newaz, Abdullah Al Rafi of Amratoli Cherag Ali High School won the third place.
Minhazur Rahman, a 10th grade student of Shaher Banu Ideal School and College, won the first place in the junior group in the Science Olympiad competition, Irshat Jahan Lamia, a 10th grade student of Sonaimuri High School, won the second place, and Samia Akhter, a 10th grade student of Ideal School and College, won the third place.
Md. Rakibul Islam, a 12th grade student of Shaher Banu Ideal School and College, won the first place in the senior group in the Science Olympiad competition, Arman Hossain, an 11th grade student of Adda Degree College, won the second place, and Jannatul Mawa, a student of Aganagar Adarsh ​​Degree College, won the third place.
