In his speech at the meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation, Central President Advocate Atiqur Rahman said that everyone should work together to establish the rights of the working people. He said that it is very important to ensure the fair rights of the workers to maintain the development and social stability of the country.
The meeting called for the prompt payment of the arrears of salaries and Eid bonuses of the workers of various factories in the country in view of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha. At the same time, the government, the concerned authorities and the law enforcement agencies were called upon to take effective steps to ensure a safe Eid journey.
In his speech at the time, Advocate Atiqur Rahman said that the recent incidents of child rape and brutal murder, including that of Ramesa, in Pallabi of the capital, have created a worrying situation across the country. There is extreme anxiety among the guardians over these incidents. He urged the government to immediately take strict legal action against the culprits and urged the Home Ministry and law enforcement agencies to play a responsible role.
He also said that the incident of loss of life in road accidents during the past Eid-ul-Fitr has saddened the nation. The concerned authorities must play a careful and responsible role so that such accidents and loss of life do not happen again during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
In his speech as the president, he called on the capable people of the country to stand by the underprivileged and low-income working families. He said that many working families cannot enjoy the joy of Eid due to economic crisis. Therefore, the wealthy people of the society should stand by the helpless people and share the joy of Eid.
He also said that the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation has always been working for the welfare of the working people and will continue to stand by the common people in the future. At the same time, the leaders and activists of the organization must play a more active role in alleviating the suffering of the working people.
