The convicted Seratul Mustaqin alias Roni is said to be the son of Tipu Sultan of Temaria village, Gopinathpur union, Akkelpur upazila of the district. Locals said that the accused is an army member. The convicted accused was present in the court when the verdict was announced.
The court’s public prosecutor (PP) Rinat Ferdousi Rini confirmed the verdict.
The case file states that at that time, the father of the girl, who was studying in the fifth grade, lived in Malaysia. At that time, she lived with her mother in the house of Nana in Temaria village of Akkelpur upazila. On June 14, 2022, at 3 pm, the victim was playing under the mango tree of the accused’s uncle’s house. Then, the accused lured the victim into a bedroom of the house by tempting her to give him a license. There, he forcibly laid the victim on the bed and raped her. After raping her, the accused forbade her to tell anyone about this and threatened to kill the victim in various ways. The next day, the victim’s family came to know about the matter when she fell ill. Then, when the victim’s grandparents informed the accused’s family, they wanted to pay 2 lakh taka. Then, the accused’s family told them to take refuge in the court, saying that now the marriage certificate should be done, and later the marriage would be registered when the son returns from work, but they kept delaying. On August 5 of that year, the victim’s mother filed a case with the police station through the court. The court gave this verdict after hearing the case and hearing the testimony of 8 witnesses.
