National Fruit Fair held in Barura

The National Fruit Fair 2026 was held in Barura, Comilla.

On Tuesday, June 30 at 11 am, organized by the Barura Upazila Agricultural Extension Department, the National Fruit Fair was inaugurated as the chief guest under the theme of “We will cultivate and preserve our fruits for twelve months” under the chairmanship of Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Zahidul Islam.
Barura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Asaduzzaman Roni was present as the special guest.

Present at the event were Md. Ali Newaz, Agricultural Extension Officer of Barura Upazila, Md. Kamruzzaman Joni, Editor and Publisher of Daily Muktir Yali Newspaper, Md. Ilias Ahmed, Barura Correspondent of Daily Comilla Kagoj Newspaper, Md. Masud Majumder, Barura Correspondent of Daily Jayjay Din Newspaper, Salil Ranjan Biswas, Barura Correspondent of Daily Sangbad, Md. Jahangir Alam, Barura Correspondent of Daily Ruposhi Bangla Newspaper, Sujan Majumder, Comilla Correspondent of Daily Desh Pantar and Bangla Vision TV, Md. Sharif Uddin, Barura Correspondent of Daily Amar Shohar Newspaper, Mohibullah Bhuiyan Babul, Barura Correspondent of Daily Financial Post. Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officer of Upazila Agricultural Extension Department, Heads of various departments, journalists and civil society leaders were also present.

On this day, the guests said that our tradition of indigenous fruits is being lost with the evolution of time, to maintain that tradition and introduce it to the next generation, it is necessary to plant fruit trees around every household, and suggested that various educational institutions organize fruit fairs to introduce children to indigenous fruits. Various indigenous fruits were displayed at the fair on this day.
