The residents of Jhalakathi Municipality have staged a protest and human chain program, alleging that the common people are being subjected to various harassment and public suffering while obtaining citizenship certificate and chairman certificate in Jhalakathi Municipality.
Speakers at this human chain organized on Thursday (July 30) said that citizenship certificate is one of the fundamental rights and necessary official services of the residents. But currently, while getting these services, citizens have to wait for a long time and face suffering step by step, which is causing extreme disruption in the lives of the common people.
​The human chain included Md. Abu Sayem, Alim Hang (Hawladar), Md. Anwar Hossain and Md. Kamruzzaman Palash, along with local conscious citizens of Jhalakathi Municipality.
​The speakers complained in their speeches, “If the institutions engaged in the service of the people do not provide the right services at the right time to the common people, then that suffering cannot be accepted. The harassment that the residents of the municipality are facing to get the citizen certificate and chairman certificate must be stopped immediately.”
​The speakers from the human chain drew the attention of the concerned authorities and urged them to take specific steps to remove this complication immediately and make the service system fast, transparent and easy. Otherwise, the participants warned of more stringent agitation later.
