The police have arrested 3 members of organized dacoity gang in Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur and an absconding accused who was sentenced to 5 years in Mathbaria area. Superintendent of Police of Pirojpur Muhammad Shariful Islam told this information to reporters in a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested are Shubhankar alias Shubo Chakraborty (40) son of Sushant Chakraborty of Banaripara area of Barisal, Barek Sikder (39) of Baraitala Dharakanda area of Barguna and Salim Sikder (53) son of Nurul Islam Sikar of Shialia area of Barguna and arrested in Mathbaria upazila of the district. Rafiqul Islam (37), son of A: Rashid Faraji of West Kabutarkhali area.
In a press conference, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shariful Islam said that the officers of the Baithakatha Police Investigation Center of Nazirpur Upazila of Pirojpur raided the Baithakatha Bazaar area on Tuesday and arrested three suspected dacoit gang members Shubhankar alias Shubo Chakraborty, Barek Sikder and Salim Sikder.
Later, through extensive interrogation and police CDMS, it was confirmed that the arrested were members of an organized gang of dacoits. Among them, there are 8 cases of robbery, banditry, theft against Shubhankar alias Shubo Chakraborty in different police stations of Barisal division, 7 cases in the name of Barek Sikdar and 6 cases of robbery, banditry, theft in the name of Rafiqul Islam. Apart from this, for a long time, organized robberies were being committed in various areas of Barisal, Patuakhali, Barguna, Pirojpur.
Apart from this, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shariful Islam also said that the police on Tuesday also arrested Rafiqul Islam, the identified Makad trader of Mathbaria area who was sentenced to 5 years.
