Three people, including two women, were killed in a truck-autorickshaw collision in Mymensingh. Two others were injured in the incident.
The incident took place in front of the truck depot adjacent to the Shambhuganj Rural Power Office on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road in the city at around 11:30 am on Tuesday (July 21).
Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station Sub-Inspector SI Khalid confirmed the three deaths.
Police and local sources said that a battery-powered autorickshaw was heading towards Kishoreganj from Shambhuganj. On the way, the autorickshaw hit a truck coming out of the truck depot adjacent to the Rural Power Office on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road. A man died on the spot. Three other women, including the auto driver, were injured. They were rescued and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared the two women dead. The other woman was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. Meanwhile, the auto-rickshaw driver fled the hospital after receiving first aid.
SI Khalid said that work is underway to recover a body from the scene. The bodies of the two women who died in the hospital have been kept in the morgue. The names and addresses of the deceased have not yet been known. However, the age of the deceased man is between 30 and 35 years. The age of the two deceased women is between 25 and 35 years. The situation at the scene is normal. He also said that legal action is under process in this incident.
