Firoz Alom, Staff reporer : A man named Robi Hawlader (49) was killed in an attack by his adversary over a dispute over the construction of a rainwater drainage canal in Bauphal, Patuakhali. The incident took place at around 8 am on Wednesday in the Uttar Kalaiya Launchghat area of ​​the upazila.
It is learned that Ravi Howlader took the initiative to build a drain to drain the rainwater accumulated in Howlader’s house in Uttar Kalaiya village. He demanded a part of the construction cost from his neighbor Ratan Bepari. But Ratan Bepari refused to pay the cost of building the drain. There had been a dispute between the two over this issue for a few days.
When the fight broke out again on Wednesday morning, 8/10 people led by opponent Ratan Bepari attacked Robi Bepari with rods and sticks. At that time, when Robi Bepari’s wife Thakurani (40) and two sons Hridoy (18) and Roni (16) came to stop them, they were also beaten and injured. After taking four members of the family to the Upazila Health Complex in serious condition, the on-duty doctor declared Robi Hawlader dead. After the incident, the police have detained four people for questioning. The deceased Robi Hawlader’s wife Thakurani, sons Hridoy and Roni have been admitted to the Baufal Health Complex.
Bauphal Police Station OC Sirajul Islam said, “Preparations are being made to send the body to the morgue for autopsy.”
