An exceptional event titled “Voices of Security: Youth Forum on Women’s Security and Social Harmony” was held at the Naf Youth Peace Cafe in Rohingya Camp-24, Hnila Union, Teknaf Upazila, Cox’s Bazar, under the initiative of SHED and ActionAid, co-funded by the European Union. The event, held at 11 am on Wednesday (July 29), was organized under the project ‘Youth-Led Peacebuilding and Social Harmony Initiatives in Bangladesh and Myanmar’. The event discussed women’s security, social harmony, peacebuilding and women’s empowerment with the participation of Rohingya and Bangladeshi women members.
The event was completely women-centric. Only women members participated in it. Various types of sports, recreational activities and fascinating cultural programs were organized for them. The musical performance by female artists created a festive atmosphere among all those present. In a safe and comfortable environment. The participants enjoyed the day with joy.
The program was conducted by SHED representative Asif Mahmud. He said that sustainable peace, social harmony and safe society cannot be built without the active participation of women and youth. Such initiatives play an important role in increasing mutual trust and sympathy.
Peace champions and female members of various youth peacebuilder groups were present at the time. Among them were Leda Peace Cafe Peace Champion Bibi Jan, Chowdhurypara Peace Champion Kakon Das, Damdamia Peace Champion Tanzina Mohammad Jaya, Ali Akbarpara Youth Peacebuilder Group Peace Champion Halim Akhter and female members of Youth Peacebuilder Groups from different areas. At the end of the program, the participating Rohingya and Bangladeshi women members expressed their gratitude to the organizers. They said that such an event will not only boost their self-confidence but also play a positive role in developing mutual relations, establishing peace and strengthening social harmony. They called for the continuation of such women-centric programs in the future as well. The organizers said that such programs will be organized continuously in the future with the aim of building a peaceful, safe and harmonious society by involving women and youth.
