Md. Moniruzzaman, Mymensingh: Police have recovered the body of a young man with his throat slit from a rented house in Mymensingh city.
Police recovered the body from the 36 Bari Colony area of ​​the city on Sunday (July 5), said District Police Superintendent Mohammad Kamrul Hasan.
The deceased was identified as Rajib Ahmed alias Rubel (40), son of the late Abdul Hamid and Khadija Begum of RK Mission Road area of ​​the city.
A month ago, he moved into a room as a tenant in a five-room house owned by Parul Akhter, wife of Ismail Hossain, a resident of 36 Bari Colony. Some friends also lived in the house with him.
Citing the victim’s family and locals, police said that around 10:30 a.m., some people went to the house and beat Rubel and slit his throat to death. Earlier, the attackers also set fire to a motorcycle belonging to Rubel’s cousin that was parked on the road in front of the house.
Since the incident, all the tenants of the house and the owner, Parul Akhter, have been absconding.
Runa Akter, the deceased’s sister, said, “I came here after receiving news that my brother was being killed. The people of this house killed my brother.”
Kotwali Model Police Station OC Md. Shibirul Islam said that upon receiving the information, the police went to the house and found Rubel’s bloody body on the bed.
The OC also said that there are multiple cases against Rubel at the police station, including drug cases.
District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, who visited the scene, said, “We have received some information, based on which we have started working to unravel the mystery of the murder. Among them, two people named Roni Mia (27) and Sajal (35) have been taken into custody for questioning. Details will be announced later.”
Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police of Mymensingh Sadar Circle Asaduzzaman Shakil said, a woman was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Saturday, alleging that she was a victim of rape. Later, on Sunday, Rajib Ahmed alias Rubel was murdered.
“As far as I know, the four sons of the rape victim killed her by slitting her throat. Around noon, Mymensingh Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) SI Nazrul Islam took the woman and her two sons from the hospital.”
In this regard, Mymensingh PBI Superintendent Md. Mizanur Rahman said, “We are investigating the matter. Details can be given after the investigation.”
