Tree plantation program organized by Barura Thana Press Club

Mohammad Masud Majumdar: A tree plantation program was organized by the Barura Thana Press Club of Comilla with the aim of preserving the balance of the environment, combating the adverse effects of climate change and building a green Bangladesh.

The program was organized on Monday (July 6) at the premises of Tarini Charan Laha High School in Kadba Talagram of the upazila. Saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees were planted across the school campus. The organizers said that such initiatives will continue to ensure a green and livable environment for future generations.

Barura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Asaduzzaman Roni was present as the chief guest at the program.

He said that there is no alternative to tree plantation to protect the environment. If every citizen plants and takes care of at least one tree a year, the country will become greener and more environmentally friendly. He praised the initiative of Barura Thana Press Club and urged various organizations of the society to come forward for such public welfare programs.

The school’s headmaster (acting) Delwar Hossain, school management committee president Rajiv Dutta, teachers-students, local dignitaries and people from different classes and professions were present at the time.

President Masud Majumder, Senior Vice President Sohel Khandaker, General Secretary Sujan Majumder, Assistant General Secretary Nasir Uddin, Organizing Secretary Sourav Lodh, Finance Secretary Jahangir Mir, Publicity and Office Secretary Md. Rakib and other members of the press club were present on behalf of Barura Thana Press Club.

At the end of the program, saplings of various species of fruit, forest and shade trees were planted in the school premises. The participants welcomed such an environmentally friendly initiative and expressed their determination to continue the greening activities through regular tree plantation and maintenance in the future.
