Lalmonirhat, Relief Minister’s anti-drug drive in 15 arrested in a day

SB-Sujon, Lalmonirhat : Disaster Management and Relief Minister Principal Asadul Habib Dulu has taken a strict stand to make Lalmonirhat free from drugs, gambling, child marriage, corruption and other social crimes. Fifteen drug addicts have been arrested from different parts of the district in the drive conducted under the banner of the social organization ‘Alokit Lalmonirhat’.
The inaugural ceremony of ‘Alokit Lalmonirhat’ was organized on the Lalmonirhat Railway MT Hossain Institute ground on Saturday (July 4) afternoon. The responsible leader of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, was present as the chief guest at the ceremony. The organization’s official journey began with his hand. The organization’s goal is to build a social movement against drugs, gambling, child marriage, dowry and corruption.
Less than 24 hours after the inauguration, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Principal Asadul Habib Dulu led a day-long drive on Sunday (July 5). A total of 15 drug addicts were arrested from different areas of the district in the drive.
As part of the drive, three people were arrested red-handed in the Chailtar Tol area of ​​Barabari Union in Sadar Upazila. Later, 12 more people were arrested in simultaneous drives conducted in different parts of the district including Mogalhat and Kulaghat. Initially, it was learned that most of the arrested people are residents of outside the district.
After the drive, Principal Asadul Habib Dulu said, “Those who are destroying the environment of Lalmonirhat, those who are spreading the deadly drug addiction from outside, will not be given any concessions. Along with cooperating with the administration in eradicating crime, we want to build a strong social resistance.”
He also said that this program will continue continuously through ‘Alokit Lalmonirhat’. Not only drugs, a strict stand will be taken against social ills such as child marriage, dowry and corruption in phases.
Along with members of the local administration, volunteers of ‘Alokit Lalmonirhat’ also participated in the drive. Meanwhile, members of the organization have already started public awareness activities in different areas of the district. Local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed optimism in this effort to make Lalmonirhat a safe and crime-free district.
