In Rajapur of Jhalkathi village electricity transformer has been stolen. In this upazila, 11 transformers were stolen in the last two and a half months, including 6 in the last two weeks of this month. Currently, 2 hundred families are in the dark as there are no transformers in 4 locations due to theft. Customers have to buy new transformers at Rs.

Rural electricity workers have been involved in theft of transformers during power supply and load-shedding, which cannot be stolen by a common man, according to customer complaints.

Everyone had to stay in the dark for about a week. It is not possible for ordinary people to steal transformers while the lines are in operation, the consumers alleged that rural electricity employees are involved in this.

Consumers also complained that loadshedding of electricity is provided at times, during which transformers are stolen. Transformers are being stolen one after another with the connivance of rural contractor employees, rural electricity officials. And if the transformer is stolen, the rural electricity office has to pay the customers to install a new transformer. One of the tricks of selling new transformers is that customers complain about transformer theft. In addition, reports of theft of transformers have been received in Baraia Palat, Chunpari and Saturia Unions of the upazila. In most places, thieves take the copper coil inside the transformer.

The customers said that the incidents of theft of transformers are happening one after the other after a few days. But rural electricity has no headache in preventing or preventing theft. Palli Vidyut Samiti has become helpless to thieves. It has to suffer for many days. Various products including fish and meat in the fridge are damaged to the extreme. Apart from this, the education of boys and girls is severely disrupted. Consumers also said that there is no benefit in adopting various methods to prevent transformer theft.

Rajapur Rural Electricity Office sources said that 2 transformers were stolen in January this year, 3 in February and 6 transformers were stolen in March this year. The price of 37 and a half KB transformer is about 1 lakh 30 thousand, the price of 25 KB transformer is about one lakh taka, the price of 15 kb transformer is about 79 thousand taka, the price of 10 kb transformer is about 65 thousand taka and the price of 5 kb transformer is about taka 40 thousand.

Denying the allegations of the involvement of rural electricity officials and employees, Rajapur Rural Electricity Office AGM (O&M) Madhusudan Roy said that at present 4 transformers have not been installed after being stolen. At least 150 to 200 customers have suffered. It is a pain to have customers pay half the money the first time and the full amount the second time at the place of theft. To prevent theft, customers should be aware as well as security measures. Also miking will be done to prevent theft. The action of law and order forces is also important in this matter. The assistance of the police administration will also be sought.

When asked to know, Rajapur Police Station OC Md. Ataur Rahman said that Rural Electricity has complained about the theft of transformers, and action will be taken after investigation. To prevent theft of transformers, strict action will be taken against thieves through a coordinated initiative with rural electricity officials.
