Police have recovered the body of a youth named Md. Asaduzzaman (24) with his hands and feet tied and burnt in Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari. His body was recovered from the side of a jute field a day after he went missing, creating a sensation in the area.
The deceased Asaduzzaman is the son of Md. Shahjahan Mondal of Bil Manushmari village of Madapur union of the upazila. He was a third-year graduate (pass) student of Mir Mosharraf Hossain College. Along with his studies, he was also involved in farming with his father.
According to family sources, he had been missing since leaving home after Asr on Sunday (June 14). At around 8 pm, he called his Saudi expatriate cousin and said that he urgently needed 5,000 taka. Since then, his mobile phone was found switched off and all communication with his family was cut off.
On Monday (June 15) morning, local farmers working in the field found his body, with his hands and feet tied and burnt, in the field in front of Dakhil Madrasa in Suryadia village of Madapur union, next to a jute field adjacent to the Bhatiapara railway line and the Chandana river. Later, the police and the family of the deceased were informed.
Locals claim that Asaduzzaman was very calm, humble and polite. It is not known that anyone had any dispute with him. There is grief and anger among the family and the local people over such a brutal murder. They have demanded that the mystery of the incident be solved quickly and those involved be arrested.
Upon receiving the information, the Kalukhali police reached the spot and recovered the body. After the post-mortem report, the body has been sent to the Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Pangsha Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Debabrata Sarkar said, “This is a very tragic and brutal incident. The body was recovered from the side of a jute field with its hands and feet tied and burnt. An autopsy will be conducted to find out the real cause of death. The police are working to unravel the mystery of the incident and efforts are being made to quickly bring those involved under the law.” The incident has created concern and excitement in the entire area.
