Md. Moniruzzaman :

There will be no more unplanned urbanization in Mymensingh, said Motahar Hossain Talukder, the newly appointed Chairman of the Mymensingh Development Authority (MDA). He said, no more unplanned cities will be built. A meeting has already been held under the Development Authority to prepare a master plan, we have started work. According to this master plan, every drainage system, canal excavation and building construction in the city will be under the master plan. Through this, we have taken the initiative to develop Mymensingh as a modern city.

He said this to reporters after meeting the family of 8-month-old baby Ayash, who died after falling into waterlogged water on the floor of his house in the Brahmapalli area of Mymensingh city around 3 pm on Thursday (July 9).

At this time, the MCC Chairman said that the death of child Ayas is sad and tragic, saying, “Our most beloved thing is our child. If that child drowns in the water of waterlogging in the kitchen, what can be a greater tragedy than this? That is why we have come to meet the family and express our condolences. We will stand by this family and continue to provide all kinds of help from the government. We are and will stand by the people. The Prime Minister has strict instructions that the people should not suffer in any matter.

Criticizing the Awami League government for unplanned urbanization, Motahar Talukder also said that those who were in charge of this city corporation in the past 17 years have not taken any initiative for the master plan. They have only shown development to the public. But in reality, they have not taken any action on the drainage system and canal excavation. They have not made the drains or canals deeper. That is why Mymensingh city is flooded with water even if there is a little rain. The death of child Ayas is a glaring example of this.

Metropolitan Jubo Dal President Mozammel Haque Tutu, Senior Vice President Ruhul Amin, BNP leaders Habibullah Dalim, Bahar Uddin, Krishak Dal leader Hira, Jubo Dal leaders, Arman, Mamun and other family members of child Ayas were present at the time.

Earlier, on Wednesday (July 8), at around 9:30 am, 8-month-old child Ayas died after falling into the water on the floor of his house due to waterlogging caused by heavy rain in the Brahmapalli area of Mymensingh city. The incident caused mixed reactions in the public mind and created a stir on social media regarding the matter.
