Staff reporter: The Tiger Golf Club (TGC) hosted a warm farewell reception in honor of H.E. Park Young-Sik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh, on Monday evening at the Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka.
The event was attended by ambassadors, diplomats, TGC members, and their spouses, creating an atmosphere of warmth, camaraderie, and reflection. The evening concluded with a lavish dinner followed by lively raffle draws.
In his welcome remarks, delivered at the request of TGC member Nasim Majumder, TGC Vice President Brigadier General (Retd.) Manzur Quader highlighted Ambassador Park’s wide-ranging engagements in Bangladesh and his deep appreciation for the country’s regional cultures and rich heritage. He also spoke of the Ambassador’s personal involvement with TGC members, noting the strong interpersonal bonds he fostered and expressing hope that His Excellency would remain connected with TGC wherever his future postings may take him.
Hafizur Rahman Khan, Director of TGC, fondly recalled Ambassador Park’s visit to Rajshahi, while Mohiuddin Monem, Director of TGC, thanked him for promoting a philosophy of humanity and goodwill among those around him.
Addressing the gathering, H.E. Nguyen Cuong, Ambassador of Vietnam, reflected warmly on Ambassador Park’s distinguished tenure, while H.E. Haji Harris, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam, conveyed his best wishes and prayed for continued success and blessings for His Excellency upon his return to the Republic of Korea.
In his farewell address, Ambassador Park expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Tiger Golf Club for the honor and the official farewell. He also conveyed deep appreciation to the Government and people of Bangladesh for their warm hospitality over the past three years.
Reflecting on his experiences, the Ambassador spoke of the diverse cultures and people he encountered across the country—from the northern hill tracts to the southern and western regions. He praised Bangladesh’s resilience, economic growth, and humanitarian progress.
Sharing his passion for golf, Ambassador Park noted that although he began playing the sport in 1995, his return to golf in Bangladesh significantly improved his skills and enriched his social connections. He fondly recalled tournaments and friendly matches with TGC members, Korean golfers, and games played at the Korean EPZ Golf Course and Bhatiary Golf Course.
The evening concluded with a vote of thanks from Brigadier General (Retd.) Manzur Quader, who expressed appreciation to all members, spouses, and dignitaries for attending the farewell dinner. Following the buffet, a raffle draw was held, with several members winning prizes and capturing memorable photographs with the Ambassador.
TGC expressed special gratitude to its Executive Committee members—particularly Vice President Brigadier General (Retd.) Manzur Quader and Directors Hafizur Rahman Khan, S.M Rahman, Q.M Zahid, and Mohiuddin Monem—for their active role in organizing the event. Appreciation was also extended to all diplomats, members, and spouses whose presence made the evening both distinguished and memorable.
