Towhid Hossain Sarkar : “We must build worker leadership by strengthening the mass base”
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Secretary General and former central president of Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation Mia Golam Parwar (former MP) made this statement while speaking as the chief guest on the first day of the two-day ‘Leadership Training Camp-2026′ of the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation at the Al-Falah Auditorium in the capital on Saturday (June 27).
In his speech as the chief guest, he further said, “Serving Allah, accepting Him as Lord and God, and participating in the struggle to establish His laws in society is the greatest act of worship in the world. We should thank Allah for the opportunity to join the movement of that religion, which pleases Allah Almighty with His servants.”
Highlighting the qualities of expected labor leadership, he said, a labor leader will not only lead, but will be by the side of the workers in their joys and sorrows. If a worker is sick, lakhs of rupees are not needed to visit him; sincere love can make a worker his own. He called for creating a mass base among the workers and said, public involvement should be increased in every level of society, neighborhood and neighborhood, including Imam Association, Journalist Association, Press Club, Shop Association, and mass leadership should be developed.
He further said that a labor leader should have perfection in his conduct, behavior and personality. A clean and tidy personality attracts workers. Just as a student is drawn to one’s chest, a worker should also be embraced with sincerity. Along with acquiring the ability to lead according to the situation, discrimination in behavior should be avoided, otherwise one will be accountable to Allah. He called on the workers to get involved with the relevant institutions including the Ministry of Labor to enhance their professional skills and to create a leadership trend in the society through self-employment.
The program was presided over by Advocate Atiqur Rahman, Central President of Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation.
He said that as the labor organization of the country’s main opposition party, the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation truly wants to work for the welfare of workers. To implement this goal, he emphasized on widely publicizing all the organization’s small and big activities on multimedia and social media.
He said that anyone who currently has an Android phone can also play an important role in the campaign. The organization needs to go further in terms of campaigning. He called for regular sharing of the organization’s activities on multimedia platforms and social media, saying that even a share or post can take the workers’ welfare activities to every door.
He further said that the media wing of the organization is now much more active than before. All activities, including news from remote areas, are being published regularly. If information about any local-level program is sent to the media wing, it will be centrally organized and disseminated nationwide. This will make it possible to highlight the organizational activities and strength of the concerned area throughout the country.
