Satkhira Correspondent: Government officials, employees, businessmen and politicians of all ranks of the district have suffered greatly due to the extortion of the alleged journalist Alamin Sardar of Satkhira. No department in the district has been spared from his influence. Even professional journalists. There is a storm of criticism across the district over who handed over the identity card of a great profession to this 5th grade pass young man. Alamin Sardar is the son of Tubbat Sardar of Kashiadanga village of Tala upazila. It is alleged that Alamin and his syndicate, who pretends to be a journalist (yellow), are roaming around the district by changing the names of top police officers of the district. If the money is not paid as demanded, they have to read the so-called yellow journalist’s influence. Alamin syndicate creates false and baseless stories on purpose. Its only job is to tarnish the image of those who present the news by writing false stories. Meanwhile, the district administration, public health engineers, water development board, public works, LGED, education engineers, district council, food control department, district upazila officials, employees, politicians and businessmen from various departments have been defamed by publishing targeted news on Facebook and in newspapers.
Even professional journalists were not spared from his hands. Investigation revealed that Alamin did not go to school after studying from the local primary school to the 5th grade. After that, he was involved in various criminal activities and even spent time in jail. Officials of the department, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Alamin first collected the names and phone numbers of officials from the website. Then, posing as a journalist, he demanded money. When the money was not paid as demanded, a fabricated story was written against him.
On Facebook. Then he sent the news on WhatsApp and demanded a large sum of money again. Although he gave some money for fear of losing his social status and honor, Alamin started demanding money again after a week. In this way, his torture continued continuously. Union land officer of Tala upazila Abdul Jalil, Ashraful Haque and many others said that several days ago he demanded some money in the name of advertisement in his newspaper. If he did not pay the money as demanded, he made them the top bribe taker and corrupt person of the district and spread false news. Then he demanded 20 thousand taka by threatening to spread the news on Facebook. In order to get rid of these tortures, they demanded the arrest of the journalist Namghari extortionist. Keshab Sadhu, Abu Said, a prominent businessman of Patkelghata, said that Alamin collected their mobile numbers and first asked for money by saying that they were in financial trouble. A few days later, he posted on Facebook that he was getting news of corruption and demanded a large sum of money. If the money is not paid as demanded, they spread false news and tarnish the image in society. They have sought the attention of the administration to bring this extortionist under the law as soon as possible. Locals said that Alamin opened a fake online portal and claimed to be a journalist. In the name of journalism, he has been regularly extorting money by holding government officials, employees, businessmen and politicians hostage in the district. If the administration does not immediately tighten the reins of the extortion of Alamin syndicate, this noble profession will be under threat. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Shaminul Haque said that several cases are pending in Alamin’s name. There is also a case under the Pornography Act. If a written complaint is filed in this regard, legal action will be taken against him.
