Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, founder and executive director of TMSS, one of the country’s leading national-level non-profit and welfare non-governmental development organizations, said that there is no alternative to national unity for the country’s economic prosperity, sustainable development and gaining the trust of foreign investors. Political or social divisions and animosity hinder the investment environment, which slows down the overall economic progress of the country.

He said these things while talking to the media after participating in the prestigious ‘NRB Global Business Summit 2026’ organized at the Westin Hotel in the capital on Wednesday (June 24). During this, he laid special emphasis on building an integrated ‘ecosystem’ consisting of NRB, the business community and the media, through which it is possible to ensure quality health and education services for the entire population of the country.

Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, in her speech, highlighted the glorious history of TMSS rising from the grassroots and said, “Today’s large TMSS or ‘Thangamara Mahila Sabuj Sangha’ was born by the most neglected and street beggar women of the society. The indomitable hard work and strategy that the grassroots people have shown to become self-reliant, receive education and initiation despite facing a very hostile environment is a unique example today.”

Expressing concern about the investment environment, she said, “Foreign or expatriate investors often feel risky about investing in our country after seeing the ups and downs and internal animosity. If we cannot build a national unity by eliminating the partisan or internal differences, it is not possible to bring sustainable stability. We have to forget our psychological differences and unite to provide comfort to investors.”

Referring to the social and humanitarian activities of TMSS, he said that since 1980, the organization has established a total of 43 educational institutions and specialized hospitals, including universities, medical colleges, nursing colleges and engineering colleges, in its long journey. Thousands of helpless and ordinary people are receiving modern medical services in these hospitals every day. A sustainable humanitarian ecosystem has been created with the financial support of the wealthy in the society, where quality medical treatment is provided to the indigent completely free of cost or at a nominal cost.

In response to a question about the future plans to expand its activities throughout Bangladesh, the TMSS chief said that the Bogra region of North Bengal was once extremely neglected and deprived. A silent explosion of success has occurred among the people due to deprivation. Currently, TMSS activities are spread across 64 districts of the country through a vast network of 2,000 offices and 1 lakh 12 thousand associations. Wherever the spontaneous cooperation of the grassroots people is found, multi-faceted specialized education and health services like the Bogra model will be expanded.

In the last part of his speech, he expressed deep gratitude to the media workers of the country and said that because of the strong role of the media, the word of welfare of the marginalized people of the populous Bangladesh, the word of education and the propaganda of health services are spreading across the country. Finally, he made a heartfelt appeal to everyone to further accelerate the ongoing struggle to increase the mental values of the people of the society and build national unity.
