A regional level consultative meeting was held in Kurigram to review “National Nutrition Policy 2015”.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the Civil Surgeon’s Office at 11 am today, Wednesday (December 24) organized by the Bangladesh National Nutrition Council Office (BNNC).
The meeting was attended as the chief guest by the Additional Secretary of the Health Department (Public Health Division)

The Director General of the Bangladesh National Nutrition Council Office, Dr. Md. Rizwanur Rahman, was present as the special guest.
The event was coordinated and member secretary of the event was Civil Surgeon Dr. Swapan Kumar Biswas, chaired by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kurigram, B.M. Kudrat-e-Khuda.
Among others present were ACF Deputy Country Director Tapan Kumar Chakraborty, District Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, District Social Service Officer Muh. Humayun Kabir, District Education Officer Shafiqul Islam, Agricultural Extension Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, along with government officials, Upazila Health and P.P. Officers, journalists and representatives of civil society.
In the meeting – In Kurigram, emphasis was placed on increasing nutrition awareness at the regional level, reducing malnutrition rates, production and consumption of nutritious food and coordination between relevant stakeholders (such as Health Department, Ministry of Food, educational institutions, local government, NGOs) to review and implement the National Nutrition Policy 2015, especially in disaster-prone areas like Kurigram. The speakers emphasized on local production (such as vegetable cultivation in sacks) and awareness to meet nutritional deficiencies.
