A reception and exchange of views was held on the arrival of the newly joined Chairman of the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA), Agriculturist Mr. Md. Hasan Zafir Tuhin, President of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Farmers’ Party.
On Sunday (May 10), the newly joined Chairman officially joined the Rajshahi Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) head office.
The newly joined Chairman, Agriculturist Mr. Md. Hasan Zafir Tuhin, was present as the chief guest at the reception and exchange of views.
At this time, the Chairman said, with the cooperation of the current government and the support of our Prime Minister, we want to take this Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority forward in the way that the former Chairman, the late Dr. M. Asaduzzaman Sir, had wanted. He was my teacher, I want to work with all the officers and employees of the Barendra Multi-Purpose Development Authority along the path shown by that sir, so that people of 16 districts remember my name like Dr. M Asaduzzaman sir. Through his work, this institution has spread its good name among the farmers in the fields and ghats of 16 districts in the Barendra region. Therefore, with the help of the current government. Compared to any other government institution in Bangladesh, the officers of BMDA are very neglected and they are deprived of various facilities. I have one thing clear: the officers and employees of BMDA will work for the country, the country will have to work for them. When our honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman came on an election tour, Barendra spoke, he said that this Barendra will have to live a full life. Because this institution was BNP’s time, the previous government destroyed this institution. The previous government divided the country into Awami League, BNP, Jamaat, and Jatiya Party, creating inequality. It has also created inequality in this Barendra. Since the success of BMP is related to the success of the area and the development of the farmers’ fortunes, we have been treated like a mother for the past 16 years, so we want to resolve that situation. We think that as long as the BNP government is in power, all the agricultural institutions in Bangladesh will be given maximum importance by removing all the inequalities. In that case, I want to use the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority with all the achievements and talents that I have achieved throughout my life. So I want to assure the workers/employees that I can fulfill your dreams. At the same time, I can fulfill the dreams of agriculture and farmers in the area and put a smile on the faces of farmers because if the farmers smile, Bangladesh will smile, so we will all work together in unity with this idea.

After the reception and exchange of views on the arrival of the newly joined Chairman of the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority, Mr. Md. Hasan Zafir Tuhin, all the officers and employees of BMDA offered floral greetings on behalf of various organizations.
After the exchange of views, in the afternoon, the newly appointed Chairman, Mr. Md. Hasan Jafir Tuhin, inspected various works including Sarmangla Khadi in Godagari Upazila, Rajshahi.
It is noteworthy that on May 5, 2026, by order of the President, Mr. Md. Hasan Zafir Tuhin, an agricultural expert, signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Golam Rabbani, was appointed as the Chairman of the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority for a period of 01 (one) year.
