The court has sentenced 3 people to life imprisonment in the Mymensingh murder case. At the same time, each was fined Tk 30,000, and in default, 6 months in prison.
The sentenced are Shahbaz Mia (58), Hanifa (50) and Md. Rafiqul Islam (53), three sons of Gias Uddin of Shilasi village in Gafargaon upazila of the district.
Mymensingh Additional District and Sessions Judge Fourth Court Judge Farzana Ahmed announced the verdict on Sunday (May 10) afternoon.
Abdul Malek, bench assistant of the court, confirmed the life imprisonment of the three people.
He said that 6 accused were present in the court in this case. In their presence, the judge sentenced 3 people to life imprisonment. The judge acquitted the other three.
Citing the case file, he said that on the morning of August 10, 2028, a group of boys were playing football in the big garden next to the house of victim Nurul Haque in Shilasi village of Gafargaon upazila of the district. At one stage of the game, the football hit Nurul Haque’s tin fence. Nurul Haque got angry and stopped the boys from playing and chased them away. Later, they brought the boys’ relatives, Shahbaz Mia and his family members, and attacked Nurul Haque with homemade weapons. Later, when Nurul Haque was taken to the hospital in a seriously injured condition, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
After this incident, Kajal Mia, the son of the deceased Nurul Haque, filed a murder case with Gafargaon police station as the plaintiff. After investigating the case, the police accused 6 people and submitted a charge sheet to the court. After recording the testimonies of witnesses, it was found that three people were involved in the murder, and three people were sentenced to life imprisonment.
The public prosecutor for the state in the case was Advocate AHM Masudul Alam Khan Tanna and the accused was Advocate Khalequzzaman.
