The leaders of the committee held a press conference explaining the inclusion of 11 Chhatra League leaders and activists in the newly formed 51-member full committee of Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) Chhatra Dal. At that time, they claimed that this incident of propaganda was a planned conspiracy of secret politics.
This explanation was given in detail at a press conference organized by MMC Chhatra Dal at the college canteen on Tuesday (May 5) afternoon.
The press conference said that the college has a total of 1000 to 1100 students from 1st year to 5th year. Of these, 65 or 70 percent of the students are women. The remaining 30 to 35 percent of the male students have only 15 to 20 percent of the hostel accommodation. More than this number of students were compulsorily included in the Chhatra League committee in the past. Among them, all those who were criticized are students of the M59 batch. They are all of the most junior batch as the first professional examinees of 2023. They were not involved in any Chhatra League activities but were given the seal of Chhatra League with their positions. In short, it has not happened that any student was there but was not given the seal of Chhatra League with his position. As a result, Chhatra Dal has been put on trial by spreading a planned narrative against Chhatra Dal for not responding to the call for secret politics after August 5, alleged Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed Siam, former member of the convening committee of MOMEC Chhatra Dal.
It was also said at the press conference that in 2023, a 151-member committee of MOMEC Chhatra League was formed. In this, the students present in the hall were tagged indiscriminately and compulsorily placed in that committee. But many of them were not involved in any activities of Chhatra League, but rather they were active with Chhatra Dal in the mass uprising last July. They have been randomly selected and placed in the Chhatra Dal committee.
Chhatra Dal leaders allege that even now, MOMEC Chhatra Shibir is doing secret politics on the campus but they are not revealing their committee till now. However, recently, in a Facebook post, we have come to know that a president of Shibir has resigned from his post. However, who his secretary was is still unknown. But from reliable sources, we have come to know that the top leadership of Chhatra League is holding other positions including the general secretary of Shibir, it was also claimed at the press conference.
MOMEC branch Chhatra Dal member secretary Mehedi Hasan, former convening committee member Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed Siam spoke at the press conference. Among others, MOMEC Chhatra Dal convener Tanvir Abdullah, senior joint convener Nur-e-Jawat Rutap, etc. were also present at the time.
