The families of Sohel Rana and Rafi held a press conference to protest the harassment, alleging defamation and false accusations made on various platforms, including social media.
The press conference was held on Monday afternoon, September 2, at the victims’ home in Abdullahpur village of Chandura Union in Bijoynagar Upazila.
At the press conference, Sohel Rana and Rafi said that their father, Abdul Bashir, was a member of the family of 4 sons and 2 daughters. Due to the sacrifices made by Sohel Rana and Rafi in running their family in the past, the parents were satisfied and informed the family and relatives and gave the two brothers an additional 11 percent of the land on November 22, 2022 by deed of inheritance. In addition, the remaining property was distributed equally among all the brothers and sisters.
They said that the center is harassing their brother, Mokhsedul Karim, in various ways, including by making baseless allegations and undermining the family’s dignity, after being persuaded by various people.
They also said that Sohel Rana was injured in a road accident with his family six months ago and is completely bedridden. On the other hand, although Rafi is working in Narsingdi, they said that the representatives are beating them, forcing them to commit various wrongdoings and defaming them.
Sohel Rana, Rafi’s sister Shamsunnahar Begum said, “My father informed all our siblings and relatives and gave 11 percent extra land to the two brothers in 2022. No one said anything then. Now some people’s bad advice is doing such a thing. Which is completely baseless. Due to which our family’s social status is being undermined.”
On the other hand, Mokhsedul Karim said, “The two brothers secretly took this place by pressuring my father. That’s why I protested.”
