AH Liton, Thakurgaon District Correspondent: A day-long preparatory workshop was held with TLCC members in Pirganj Municipality of Thakurgaon under the Religious Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP) and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for the implementation of development-oriented activities jointly funded by the Government of Bangladesh and the International Development Association (IDA) World Bank. The day-long workshop was inaugurated at 9 am on Tuesday at the hall of the Pirganj Municipality office under the chairmanship of Municipal Administrator and Upazila Executive Officer Rakibul Hasan. Former MP and Upazila BNP President Zahidur Rahman, former Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila BNP General Secretary Ziaul Islam, Project Operation Maintenance Specialist Md. Nurul Alam, Urban Planner Abdur Rakib Khan, Architect Ajmeri Akhter, Urban Planner Saifur Rahman Rajan, Zubaida Parveen, Gender Specialist Sajeda Begum, Pirgonj Municipality Assistant Engineer Shahajan Shah and others spoke at the workshop. In addition, TLCC members highlighted various issues on the development-oriented activities of Porshahar in the workshop. In the organized workshop, the trainers said that if the development-oriented project is implemented in this municipality, work on climate-tolerant, improved urban structure, drainage, lighting system and other facilities will be done under the project. The residents of the municipality will benefit from this. Members of the Municipal Administrator’s Executive Committee, officials from various departments, workers from social organizations, members of the ward-based TLCC committee of the municipality, and media personnel participated in the workshop.
