Abdul Motaleb, Noakhali: A basic training workshop in journalism has been held by the Noakhali University of Science and Technology (Noakhali University of Science and Technology) Journalists Association. The workshop, organized at the seminar room of the University’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) today, Tuesday (July 14, 2026), was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani. In his speech as the chief guest at the workshop, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of objective journalism and said, “The organization of journalists is notable among the organizations active on the campus. I expect the journalists to fulfill their responsibilities properly. They will play a supportive role in the progress of the university by highlighting the positive aspects of the academic and infrastructural activities of Noakhali University of Science and Technology in the media.” Three months after my joining, I have witnessed the constructive activities of the Journalists Association in presenting the news of the university, for which I appreciate them. At this time, the Vice-Chancellor urged the journalists not to tarnish the image of the university by publishing news that is not newsworthy on social media and other media as news reports. In addition, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani advised the journalists to bring all negative incidents that come to the attention of the journalists to the attention of the NOB administration before publishing them in the media. At this time, he further mentioned that if negative news is widely published in print and electronic media, the university family will be affected and the developmental steps of NOB will be hampered. When we go to various government departments including the ministry regarding various research and infrastructure projects of Noakhali Science and Technology University, we may not get the expected cooperation as a result of negative news. I request that the journalists working on the campus, and above all our dear students, consider this matter seriously. At this time, he called on the journalists to cover the daily important programs of the university, administrative and financial decisions taken for the welfare of the students. The event was addressed as special guests by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Director of IQAC, Professor Dr. Asadun Nabi, Proctor and Advisor of Nobiprobi Journalists’ Association, AFM Arifur Rahman. The session speakers at the workshop were Prothom Alo Senior Reporter Arifur Rahman, Multimedia Reporters’ Association President and Ittefaq Head of Multimedia Fakhrul Islam, Former President of Shabiprobi Press Club and Physics Department Teacher Md. Javed Iqbal, and Former President of Nobiprobi Journalists’ Association and Banik Barta Reporter Abdul Kabir Farhan. The event was presided over by Nobiprobi Journalists’ Association President Nahidul Islam. In the closing ceremony in the afternoon, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani presented certificates to the workshop participants.
