Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that there will be a new program with the IMF to ensure public interest and the country’s economic security. The government will not participate in any IMF program that undermines the interests of the people of the country.
He mentioned that the previous IMF program taken by the previous fascist government was completely against the public interest. That program had many conditions that were unacceptable to a democratic and elected government. This is why the current government has come out of the previous program.Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “Our main concern is not about getting money, but protecting the interests of the country. As an elected government, our main priority is to protect the interests of the people of Bangladesh and the country’s economy. We are going to a new program that ensures the economic interests of the people. No matter which program we go to, the interests of the people of Bangladesh will be 100 percent protected.”Talking to reporters at the Secretariat today, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury highlighted the government’s important positions and plans on the country’s ongoing politics, economic development, and international financial cooperation.Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of renowned politician, veteran lawyer, former Speaker of the National Assembly and former Acting President Barrister Zamir Uddin Sarkar. He said, Barrister Zamir Uddin Sarkar was a very honest and capable person. His contribution to our politics is immense. He performed the duties of Speaker of the National Assembly with great honesty and devotion. His passing away is an irreparable loss in the political arena of the country.Expressing his determination to build a modern Bangladesh, the Finance Minister said that changes will be made to the current visa policy to increase the country’s economic dynamism and boost confidence in the international arena. He said, “To build a modern Bangladesh, we need to revise or amend our current visa policy. This policy will be made simpler and more modern.”He expressed hope that the modernization of visa policies will increase the number of foreign tourists visiting the country, allow foreign investors to invest with ease, and strengthen the trust and acceptance of Bangladesh among the world.
