Mymensingh Correspondent:
Councilor candidate Raihan Rahman Munna has personally taken to the field to relieve waterlogging in various areas of Ward No. 6 of Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC).
He was seen cleaning drains in the Senbari area of the ward amid heavy rain around noon today (June 22).
Eyewitnesses said that after removing the garbage accumulated inside the drains soaked in the torrential rain, the water that was trapped went down within just 1 to 2 hours. According to locals, even a slight rain in several low-lying areas of this area, including Akua, causes permanent waterlogging, causing extreme suffering to pedestrians and locals. Recently, a passenger car overturned in a broken drain, seriously injuring several passengers. Sohel Mondal and Shanto Mia, residents of Senbari area, said, “A little rain makes it impossible to move through these roads, but today Munna Bhai himself got wet in the rain and cleaned the drains and drained the water; we, the locals, are very happy with his initiative and are supporting him in every way. However, they demanded the construction and renovation of new drains as soon as possible for a permanent solution to this problem, so that the rainwater can drain quickly and people do not have to suffer like this again.” In this regard, councilor candidate Raihan Rahman Munna said, “On the instructions of City Corporation Administrator Roknuzzaman Sarkar, I went out to observe the situation in the entire area during the rain and wherever there was water, I cleaned the big bags of garbage and garbage blocking the drains with my own hands and made arrangements for the movement of water; At the same time, I humbly request the locals, please do not throw garbage into the drains.” It is worth noting that today, during and after the rain, Mymensingh City Corporation Administrator Roknuzzaman Sarkar was seen personally visiting various areas of the city to supervise the drainage system.
