Mosahid Ahmed, Moulvibazar : In addition to the drug control law and its implementation, the Moulvibazar District Narcotics Control Department has implemented various programs to increase public awareness. In addition to conducting awareness activities in 23 educational institutions, 18 mosques and 10 religious institutions of the district, workshops, public hearings and training to create trainers, and training on mentors were organized to create anti-drug awareness. In addition, cricket, football, volleyball, kabaddi and badminton tournaments have been organized to make the youth aware of the harmful effects of drugs. On the occasion of the day, leaflets, school bags, geometry, notebooks, pens, diaries, calendars and sports equipment were distributed among students of various educational institutions and the general public. Students, teachers, guardians and members of various social organizations participated in these activities. The District Office of the Narcotics Control Department said that in addition to enforcing the law to prevent drug abuse, their activities will continue in the future to create a drug-free society through awareness raising and social involvement. When asked about this, Moulvibazar District Narcotics Control Department Deputy Director Md. Rasheduzzaman said – Moulvibazar District Narcotics Control Department has implemented various programs to increase public awareness along with the law and enforcement of drug control. A total of 1,714 drives have been conducted in the district from June 2025 to May 2026. In these drives, 432 drug cases were filed, 1 GD case, 138 regular cases, 293 mobile court cases, 494 drug-related people were arrested, 388 of those arrested were arrested and 76 are absconding. On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the District Office of the Narcotics Control Department has highlighted the significant success of anti-drug campaigns and public awareness activities in Moulvibazar. Officials of the Narcotics Control Department said that awareness-raising activities are being further strengthened along with law enforcement to create a drug-free society. They expressed optimism that it will be possible to protect the young society from the terrible clutches of drugs with the coordinated efforts of families, educational institutions, social organizations and the administration.
