Staff Reporter: Registration number S-14517 Journalist Protection and Welfare Foundation Dhaka Metropolitan South Committee, approved by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, organized an Iftar and Doa Mahfil at 14 Purana Paltan, Darus Salam Arcade Building (11th floor) on Saturday (March 14, 2026).
Md. Harunur Rashid, Senior Joint Convener (Former Council) of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP, was present as the chief guest at the event.

Chief guest Md. Harunur Rashid said in his welcome speech, “The journalistic community is not limited to just providing news; they should play an active role in fulfilling their social and humanitarian responsibilities. The country needs to ensure an environment for independent journalism and it is important to take effective steps to protect the professional safety and dignity of journalists.”
In his speech, founding chairman Md. Delwar Hossain said that journalists work as a mirror of society. While working fearlessly for truth and justice, journalists often face various adversities. Considering that reality, the Journalists Protection and Welfare Foundation is always trying to stand by the helpless and underprivileged journalists. We believe that it is our moral responsibility to ensure the welfare of all journalists, regardless of party affiliation. In the future, our activities will be further expanded nationwide to protect the professional safety, dignity and rights of journalists. We hope that such humanitarian and social service initiatives will further strengthen mutual cooperation, brotherhood and unity among the journalistic community.
After Iftar, an exchange of views was held among journalists, which was mutually beneficial. It plays a helpful role in strengthening harmony and unity. The organizers expressed the hope that such an event will strengthen the sense of brotherhood among the journalist community and will play an important role in making the organization’s activities more dynamic and effective. During the event, prayers and supplications were offered for the welfare of the country and the nation. At the end, iftar was served in honor of the guests and journalists present.
