We need to urgently take and implement plans to prevent environmental pollution. Because if we do not take urgent measures to manage waste and prevent the emission of harmful gases, our country will eventually become uninhabitable. To keep the environment free from pollution, we need a joint effort. For this, it is the need of the hour to strengthen the relevant ministries and the Environmental Pollution Control Department of the government and strengthen environmental and natural resource management under the proposed Environment Department. If necessary, the government should form an Environmental Reform Commission. The environment is very important for human life. Because the environment greatly affects the development of human life. A good environment creates healthy people and a bad environment creates sick people. The first and main prerequisite for the existence of life on earth is a healthy and peaceful environment. The environment is gradually losing the health it needs to survive. Therefore, for good reason, people around the world are raising their voices against environmental pollution; at the same time, they have become proactive in protecting the health of the environment. As a result, the whole world is concerned about climate change and environmental pollution in various B-category countries of South Asia. In that case, various organizations and donor countries including the United Nations, World Bank, Asian Development Bank have taken necessary steps for the last 16 years. While other countries have been very successful in restoring the balance of their countries’ environment by utilizing its benefits, our country has not seen any such benefits. Rather, our environment is constantly being polluted due to lack of public awareness, lack of implementation of specific laws, constant destruction of forests, ambivalent attitude of the authorities, lack of patriotism, degradation of values, unplanned urbanization, dust pollution, population growth, reduction of forest resources, extensive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, misuse of various chemicals, industrial waste, medical waste, etc. The environment, devastated by pollution, has made people’s lives miserable today. The place where we live and its surroundings are the environment. Houses, buildings, trees, rivers, soil, air, and property all together create the environment. Human behavior and lifestyle are greatly influenced by the environment. Again, the environment is also influenced by society through the use of science and technology. The current population of Bangladesh is about 200 million. According to the World Population Review, the current population of Dhaka is about 23.935 million. Which is almost three times more than the carrying capacity. Our capital Dhaka is a shining example of how much the increasing human pressure can destroy the nature and environment of a locality. Houses, educational institutions, markets, water and electricity supply, sewage, transportation, leisure and entertainment facilities are important elements of the environment. But for 90 percent of the capital, they are not there. In fact, poverty, illiteracy, and deprivation have broken our family-centered social system. According to sociologists, not only life in the capital, but also the family-centered social life of the entire Bangladesh is moving forward in a disastrous state. As a result, the environment is being polluted. In search of a way to survive, people are ruthlessly interfering with nature and the environment. The people of the country are destroying forest resources for fuel and for building houses and furniture. As a result, the environment is constantly losing balance. Among the environmental pollutants of our country, lead, mercury, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc. are notable. Some of these are produced from our excrement and body decomposition. These are constantly polluting the air. This air pollution is going on all over the world. Starting from carbon, heavy metals, complex organic compounds, fossil fuels, nuclear waste, chlorofluoromethane, nitrous oxide, photochemical smoke, etc. are the main causes of air pollution and environmental pollution. As a result, the temperature of the weather is gradually increasing. According to various scientists, by the middle of this century, the temperature of the earth may increase by 1.5 to 4.5 degrees Celsius. As a result, the sea level will rise. The coastal areas of the world will be flooded. Low-lying areas like Bangladesh, Maldives and Indonesia will be submerged. Bangladesh, which borders the Bay of Bengal, is at the highest risk in this regard. Finally, we can quickly get the benefits of this through the awareness and spontaneous participation of people from all walks of life to get urgent solutions and build a life free from fear.
