Inauguration of the ‘Partner’ Field Congress of Agriculture Department in Kaptai

The inaugural ceremony of the ‘Partner’ Field Congress was held in Kaptai, Rangamati under the Program on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Bangladesh (PARTNER) project of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The event was organized by the Kaptai Upazila Office of the Department of Agricultural Extension at 11:30 am on Thursday (April 30) at the hall of the Upazila Horticulture Center. More than a hundred farmers, including prominent figures of the society, government officials, teachers, journalists of electronic and print media, NGO representatives, farmers of Partner Field School, participated in the event.

Deputy Director of the Rangamati Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Monirazzaman inaugurated the field congress as the chief guest. He said that along with entrepreneurs, everyone should work in a coordinated manner in the agricultural sector so that sustainable development and production revolution in agriculture is possible. He further said that various government initiatives including distribution of farmer cards are bringing benefits to marginal farmers.

The program, chaired by Kaptai Upazila Agriculture Officer Ahsan Habib and moderated by Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Bappa Mallick, was addressed as special guests by Upazila Executive Officer Ruhul Amin, former Upazila Parishad Chairman Dildar Hossain, District BNP Vice President Dr. Rahmat Ullah, Additional Deputy Director of District Agricultural Extension Department Arun Chandra Roy, Upazila Horticulturalist Rakib Jobayer, Assistant Information Officer Delwar Hossain and Upazila Cooperative Officer Himel Kanti Dey. Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Md. Iqbal Hossain, Plant Conservation Officer Thoayinu Ching Marma. Farmer Ashish Kumar Tanchangya spoke on behalf of the farmers at the program.
