Sports Desk: ‘Good toss to win’ – Liton Das can say this. Bangladesh captain won the toss and sent Sri Lanka to bat in the opening match of the Super Four in Dubai. After losing the match, the Sri Lankans say that they were doomed because they miscalculated the run count.

After losing the toss, Sri Lanka scored 168 runs for 7 wickets. If it weren’t for the drama of the last over, Bangladesh would have won with a laugh. Despite the drama, the Tigers won by 4 wickets.

What did Sri Lanka do wrong? Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka said after the match, ‘Actually, nothing went wrong, the match went well. But we were 15-20 runs short.’

Shanaka added, ‘We initially thought we would score 160 runs, but later when we went to bat, we thought we should have scored 180. But Bangladesh bowled well in the last two overs, which led to us being restricted to 168.

Despite a losing start, the Sri Lankans are still optimistic about making it to the final. Shanaka said, “We still have two matches left against India and Pakistan. If we can win them and keep a good run rate, then we still have a chance to make it to the final. We are thinking positively.”
