The army has arrested a drug dealer named Babu Mia (30) with a large quantity of banned Tapentadol tablets in an army operation in Gobindaganj, Gaibandha.
He was arrested from the Rajabirat Dashlal area of ​​the upazila around 2 am on Sunday (September 21).
The arrested drug dealer Babu Mia is the son of Harunur Rashid, a resident of Dashlal village in Shakhahar union of the same upazila.
According to the operation sources, based on secret information, an army expeditionary team led by Major AKM Jabed Hasan Jewel of the Gaibandha Army Camp conducted an anti-drug operation in the Dashlal area of ​​Gobindaganj upazila at around 2 am on Saturday (September 20). During this time, drug dealer Babu Mia was arrested and his residence was searched, and 2,700 pieces of Tapentadol tablets, two domestic weapons, 99,080 taka in cash for drug sales and two smartphones used for drug sales were recovered. Members of Gobindaganj Police Station were present during the operation. Later, the arrested drug dealer was handed over to Gobindaganj Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj Police Station Bulbul Islam said that police members were present during the army operation. Preparations are underway to file a case against the arrested drug dealer under the Narcotics Control Act.
