The BRTA Board of Trustees has organized a program to distribute financial assistance checks to the families of those killed and injured in road accidents. This Sunday morning, the program was organized by BRTA Pirojpur Circle and in collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner at the meeting room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
BRTA Chairman (Additional Secretary) Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed was present as the chief guest at the event. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashraful Alam Khan presided over the event, while Additional District Magistrate Tanzila Kabir Tropa, Barisal BRTA Director Ziaur Rahman, and Pirojpur BRT Assistant Director Mobarak Hossain were present as special guests.
At this time, financial assistance checks were handed over to five victim families from Pirojpur district and nine from Jhalakati district. In addition to the victim family members, leaders of the local bus owners’ association were present at the ceremony. A grant of Tk 5 lakh was given to the deceased family, Tk 3 lakh to the disabled person and Tk 1 lakh to the injured.
The speakers discussed the various causes of road accidents and ways to reduce them. The chief guest said in his speech, “Many people are affected by road accidents but are not aware of the government’s financial assistance. Therefore, it is important to conduct a wide campaign on this issue.”
He further said that the government has taken various steps to reduce accidents, which if implemented properly will reduce accidents.
