Staff Reporter: A journalist from Somoy TV was found in the Jatrabari police station area of ​​the capital on charges of extortion, beating and vandalism of mobile phones. A general diary (GD) has been filed at the Jatrabari police station in this regard. Last Monday, July 27, the victim – Md. Bazlur Rahman (43) filed this GD (GD) whose number is 3045.
The written complaint of the GD reveals that a person named Mahadi Dhrub (27), son of Nazrul Islam Master of Konapara Farm intersection area, introduced himself as a crime reporter of Soami Television and complained to Rina Yasmin, president of the Jatiyabadi Mahila Dal of Demra Police Station, about a woman named Farida Yasmin mortgaged a flat to several people. When Farida Yasmin went to know about the matter, she abused and intimidated her with her people in foul language. Later, the fraudster threatened Rina Yasmin, president of the Jatiyabadi Mahila Dal of Demra Police Station, by citing a written complaint from the woman who had mortgaged the flat in the office (DC) of the victim. Rina Yasmin told the victim Bazlur Rahman that the crime reporter of Soami Television (Mahadi Dhrub) would do news against me, and to resolve this problem, she demanded Tk 2,00,000 (two lakhs) from Bazlur Rahman. Later, on July 26, 2026, at 11.25 pm, Mahadi Dhrub wanted to know the location of Bazlur Rahman on his mobile phone. Shortly after, at 11.45 pm, Mahadi Dhrub and his associate Alauddin Munshi (28) and another unidentified person attacked Bazlur Rahman in front of the Konapara Shopping Complex under Jatrabari Police Station. They abused him in foul language and beat him up indiscriminately for not stopping him, causing minor injuries on various parts of his body. The complaint further states that when Bazlur Rahman went to record a video of the incident, accused Mahadi Dhrub snatched a SAMSUNG M31 model mobile phone from his hand and threw it on the ground and broke it. This caused an estimated loss of Tk 5,000. While leaving, the accused threatened the victim and left the scene. In this regard, Jatrabari Police Station SI Md. Mehedi Zaman said that legal action will be taken as per the court’s orders for the sake of investigation.
In this regard, the alleged journalist of Soami Television, Mahadi Dhrub, said, “How will I manage the office? I will prove to you that there is a previous background. It has been a mess since the 5th. Why did you take this paragraph? I am very salty. Later, the victim said that the journalist of Soami Television did not summarize and then got angry and attacked him.”
