MilonAlam, Bogura: International cricket excitement is returning to Bogura’sShahidChandu Stadium after a long gap of nearly 18 years. The Zimbabwe ‘A’ cricket team has arrived in Bogura to play two One-Day (ODI) matches against the Bangladesh ‘A’ team. The visiting team checked into the local luxury hotel, Momo Inn, on Wednesday (June 3).According to official sources, following their arrival on Wednesday, the Zimbabwe team will hit the ground for their first practice session at ShahidChandu Stadium today, Thursday (June 4), starting at 9:00 AM. They are scheduled to continue their regular practice sessions here until June 7. Meanwhile, the host team, Bangladesh ‘A’, is expected to arrive in Bogura on June 6.

The old air conditioning units in the players’ dressing rooms, officials’ rooms, and VIP galleries have been replaced with brand-new ones. Additionally, water and electricity connections, along with other essential facilities of the stadium building, have been fully restored and modernized.Expressing optimism, Jamilur Rahman, the Venue Manager of Shahid Chandu Stadium, said:”The Zimbabwe team has arrived in Bogura, and their training sessions begin today. The primary preparations for the venue are already complete. Even though this is an ‘A’ team international fixture, it brings a ray of hope for us. If a proper budget is allocated in the future, a complete and radical renovation of the entire stadium could begin.”
